“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
~Acts 1:8
Evangelism is one of the most important things in being a Christian and our main focus should be to always be sharing the news of Jesus Christ and his returning. My study bible says the apostle’s mission of spreading the gospel was the major reason the Holy Spirit empowered them. This event of evangelism dramatically altered world history, and the gospel message eventually reached ALL ends of the earth.
We need to be witnesses for Jesus Christ. What is a witness? A witness is somebody who tells the truth for Jesus. The Greek word for witness means “one who dies for his faith” because this was often the price for witnessing. Are you ready to die for Jesus today? No Christmas presents, everything on earth left behind. The answer has to be YES!! Earth is not our home, heaven is. We were put on earth for a reason though, not for fun, but for work. We are on a job, and we rest to work not the other way around. The bible never said the Christian life would be easy; in fact it says the exact opposite. In this life we will experience pain and suffering and trials, but that cant separate us from Jesus. Our spirit shall never be crushed.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
~Mathew 28:19-20
If we call ourselves Christians then we need to be keeping God’s commands. So many times I have talked to people who say they are a Christian but when I ask if they ever go out and evangelize their answer is no. They believe religion is a private thing between you and God. They think everybody has the right to their own thoughts. This is the wrong answer! If you know the right way to Heaven why wouldn’t you want to shout off every rooftop and every mountain that Jesus Christ is the savoir of the world and we must deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him? This needs to be our attitude toward evangelism. If we know the way to Heaven we MUST share with everybody, otherwise the world may never get the chance of hearing the good news and then burn in Hell. Christmas is the perfect time to share not only about the birth of our savior, but also to tell about the promise of his returning. This may make people angry and you may loose friends by sharing the gospel with them but its worth it for the sake of Christ. No matter how many enemies you gain by sharing the gospel it is still our job. Jesus sure didn’t gain a lot of friends by telling them that they had to drop everything and follow him. Evangelism is our job on earth. We need to be whole-heartedly obeying this command Jesus has given us and we need to evangelize like Jesus is coming back tonight!
Here I am, Send me by Keith Green (I would encourage you to look up the rest of the lyrics to this song, its really good!)
Oh, to reach the ones nobody does/ give up my pride and even work in the mud/ I wanna be like those who spilled their blood/ and gave it like water to you
Oh Lord, there’s just so much to be done/ Oh Lord, so many souls to be won/ it seems this world is falling apart/ Lord, wont you send me?
Great blog, Andie!
Let’s always remember our motive to evangelize is love, just as out of the Father gave his son for us! 2 Corinthians 5:14-15!
thanks wesley! that is important that we envagelize out of love!

Awesome blog Andie! I love how you pointed out that our job as Christians is to make disciples! Evangelism shouldn’t be something that is merely a hobby! Christ gave us our marching orders in Matthew 28:18-20, and those orders were to make disciples!
